Windows 10: Set exception for Windows Defender
If the Defender on Windows 10 keeps sounding a harmless file, you can add it as an exception. However, you should only do this for files that you consider 100% certain to be harmless.
Define exception for Defender on Windows 10
- Click on the Windows icon at the bottom left and select "Settings".
- Under the "Update and Security" category you will find the "Windows Security" area on the left
- Click here on "Virus & threat protection" and then under "Settings for virus & threat protection" on "Manage settings".
- Scroll down to "Exclusions" and click on "Add or remove exclusions".
- With the button "Add exclusion" you can now select individual files, folders, file types or entire processes.
- Windows Defender will no longer check the files you want. Note that this behavior may lead to security problems.
