Windows 10: disable automatic app updates - how it works
Windows 10 updates not only the system, but also individual apps automatically. You can deactivate these updates if you prefer to update your programs yourself. We show you how to do this.
Disable automatic app updates on Windows 10
By default, Windows 10 updates your installed apps automatically as soon as a new version is available. As a Windows 10 Pro user, you can disable this feature. In Windows 10 Home, however, this option is grayed out. Unfortunately, a workaround is also not yet available.
- Enter the "Store" command in the Windows search and start the app of the same name.
- In the Windows Store, click on your profile picture in the top right corner and select the "Settings" option.
- There you will find the "Update apps automatically" entry in the "App updates" section. Set the toggle switch to "Off". After that, you must update your programs manually from now on.
