Windows 10: Preparing automatic repair - so go ahead
If Windows 10 reports at startup that the automatic repair is being prepared, Windows cannot start properly. In this guide, we will show you how to solve the problem.
Windows 10: Preparing automatic repair
- If the message appears at the start, wait for a while. In many cases, Windows finds the problem on its own and can solve it directly. The process can take several minutes.
- If there is no improvement in sight or if the repair terminates with an error or hangs up, simply switch off the computer and restart it.
- In some cases you get to the UEFI (blue screen). If this is not the case, open the BIOS manually in Windows 10. Under the "Troubleshoot" category, you can perform a system restore, refresh Windows, or reinstall Windows.
Automatic repair does not stop - last resort
- If the problem still cannot be solved, Windows is irreparably damaged. Only a new installation helps here. Since Windows can no longer be started, you need the installation DVD or install Windows 10 from the USB stick.
- If you want to save your data from the hard drive beforehand, you can do this with the Knoppix operating system. Download it and burn it to CD. You can then access your data and save it on a USB stick or an external hard drive.
