If you want to start certain programs automatically in Windows 10, you can add them to the Startup folder. We show you exactly how to do this.
Add autostart programs in Windows 10
If programs are in autostart mode, they are automatically executed when the system is started. This gives you faster access to all functions.
- Press the [Windows] and [R] keys simultaneously so that the "Run" window opens.
- Enter "shell: startup" here and confirm with "OK". The autostart folder then opens.
- Insert all programs and files here that you want to start automatically with Windows.
- In the folder "C: \ Programs" (standard) you will find your installed programs and the associated EXE files for the start. Just insert shortcuts of the files into the autostart folder, no copies.
- To do this, right-click on the program's EXE file and select "Desktop (create shortcut)" under "Send to". Then move the shortcuts from the desktop to the Startup folder.
- Then restart to check the success of the action.

Now the folder opens in which you can insert all the desired startup programs. To do this, drag any programs or files you want into the folder.
Tip:
Only insert shortcuts of the individual programs into the folder and do not copy the EXE file. To do this, locate the EXE file and right-click on it. Via "Send to" you will find the option "Desktop (create shortcut)".

The more autostart programs you add, the slower your computer starts. The boot process can then only be shortened with the right hardware. A fast hard drive and a strong processor are particularly important here.
