Windows 10 Cortana: the most important commands
Microsoft has provided its new operating system Windows 10 with the voice assistant Cortana. With the right commands, the software can be of great help in everyday life. We have put together the most important commands for you below.
Windows 10 Cortana - voice commands for the first weather small talk
Cortana is Microsoft's answer to Apple's Siri and Google Now. As soon as you have activated and set up the service, you can start to query your operating system - and which icebreaker is better than a conversation about the weather?
- You can get the current weather forecast with "What will the weather be like today?". Before leaving the house, you should also inquire about the temperature at Cortana. The question is enough: "Is it cold outside?"
- You can get the prospects for the next few days specifically by asking "How will the weather be tomorrow?", "Is it raining at the weekend?" or "What's the weather forecast for next week?"
- Likewise, Cortana tells you the weather conditions at a location of your choice. For example, ask "What will the weather be like in Munich?" or "Is it warm in Berlin?"
Cortana's help for self-help: commands for organizing appointments
With the voice software from Microsoft, you can finally fulfill your wish for a personal secretary - Cortana also keeps an overview of your appointments.
- Cortana helps you get out of bed early at the desired time. For example, the command "Wake me at 8 o'clock" is sufficient. Even with short naps, the voice assistant is on hand: "Wake me up in 40 minutes" is what Cortana understands.
- If you call Cortana an appointment, she enters it in your calendar. Both the command "Enter an appointment for Tuesday" and "Remind me to call Mr. Meier in an hour" works.
- In stress, you quickly forget one or the other appointment. Cortana also helps here: Try, for example, the commands "What do I do on weekends?", "What am I going to do on Thursday?" or "What is my next appointment?"
- You can also capture spontaneous ideas with Cortana. Simply say "take a note" and then speak your text.
Cortana replaces the navigation system - commands for orientation
With the mobile Windows operating system you have Cortana ready everywhere. So you can also use the language assistant as a tourist guide on vacation.
- You can find your location by asking "Where am I?" out.
- In the same way, Cortana navigates you to the location of your choice. For example, say: "Show me the way to the main station".
- If you are traveling by car, you will receive current traffic reports with the command "How is the traffic situation on the way to Munich?".
- For better orientation, Cortana can also call up the map of a desired location. For example, the command "Show me a map of Leipzig" is sufficient.
- If you get lost, Cortana will easily take you back to familiar areas. Just say "Take me home" or "How do I get home?"
