Windows 10: Install Cortana - Here's how
Cortana is the digital voice assistant for Windows 10. We explain how to install Cortana in this practical tip. Since Cortana is an integral part of Windows 10, you cannot transfer it to other operating systems.
Show Cortana in Windows 10
Cortana is an integral part of Windows 10 and therefore does not have to be installed separately. If Cortana is missing on your system, it is probably just hidden or deactivated. To show Cortana again:
- Right-click an empty area on the Windows taskbar.
- Open the entry "Cortana" in the context menu and then select either "Show Cortana symbol" or "Show search field".
- Cortana is now displayed in the taskbar again.
Activate Cortana in Windows 10
If you have deactivated the voice assistant, you can reactivate it with the following instructions:
- Press the key combination [Win] + [S] to open the Windows search.
- Click the round Cortana icon in the left column to activate Cortana.
- Confirm the privacy policy by clicking on "Use Cortana".
- Cortana is now activated on your system, but may need to be set up further. You can access the settings by clicking on the notebook icon and then selecting "Settings".
If you have completely removed Cortana from your system in the past, you can only restore it with a system backup or by reinstalling Windows.
