Windows 10: Desktop icons gone after upgrade
Some users complain about missing desktop icons after upgrading to Windows 10 - for example, they miss the trash. We show how you can easily restore these desktop items.
Desktop icons in Windows 10 gone after upgrade - you can do that
- Open the start menu and enter the search term "desktop icon" in the search field.
- Then click on the first result "Show or hide common icons on the desktop".
- A new window is opening up. Mark the entries that are missing on the desktop.
- In addition, you can set new icons in the lower area if you don't like the current ones.
- To do this, click on the respective icon and select "Other symbol". You can then define a new symbol for the respective link.
- When you are finished, save the changes by clicking on "Apply".
- If there have been no updates on the desktop after the changes have been made, right-click on an empty space on the desktop and select "Update".
- If you don't see any desktop icons at all, they may be completely hidden. You can change this by right-clicking on the desktop. There, select "View" and tick "Show desktop icons".
