Windows 10: Set up dial-up broadband connection (PPPoe) - how it works
If Windows 10 does not automatically detect your network, you can set up dial-up broadband (PPPoE) manually. We'll tell you exactly how to do this.
Windows 10: Start setup for a dial-up broadband connection (PPPoE)
Windows 10 - like the previous versions of Windows - offers a wizard with which you can manually set up a dial-up broadband connection (PPPoE). You have to start this wizard first.
- To do this, open the Control Panel under Windows 10. This works best by searching for "Control Panel" in the Start menu.
- In the new window, click on "Network and Sharing Center" in the "Network and Internet" category.
- Now click on the option "Set up a new connection or a new network" (see screenshot).
- The setup wizard opens in a new window.
Set up dial-up broadband connection (PPPoE) under Windows 10
- In the setup wizard, select "Connect to the Internet" and click "Next".
- Then click on "Broadband (PPPoE)".
- Enter the user name and password for the connection at the top. You can obtain the data from your provider or your system administrator.
- Tip: To avoid having to re-enter the password every time you connect, check the box next to "Save this password".
- Then give the connection a name and click "Connect" to complete the setup.
- Note: If you have not received your access data by letter or email, you may have included a CD to set up from your provider. In this case, click on the link "There is no Internet service provider", insert the CD and follow the instructions.
