Windows 10: the most important voice commands
Before you start, you should activate the "Hey Cortana" option so that you can easily use Cortana in the future. As soon as the wizard is set up, you can start with the most important commands:
- You can ask Cortana to remind you of appointments or calls. It goes like this: "Hey Cortana. Remind me tomorrow at 3pm to call Peter."
- You can also let Cortana add appointments to your calendar: "Hey Cortana. Add a meeting at 1pm on Wednesday to my calendar."
- An appointment can then be easily moved again, try it out: "Hey Cortana. Postpone my appointment on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m."
- You can also use Cortana to simply ask knowledge questions: "Hey Cortana. What's the name of the President of the United States?"
- You can also find places quickly with Cortana: "Hey Cortana. Find a restaurant nearby."
- Certain folders can be opened quickly and directly through Cortana: "Hey Cortana. Open my pictures."
- Even with hidden questions about the weather, Cortana can cope: "Hey Cortana. Do I need sunscreen tomorrow?"
- Cortana also copes well with easy math problems: "Hey Cortana. What is the square root of 25."
- In the future, Microsoft will add more and more functions to the voice assistant. Just try different questions and answers and do smaller tasks with your voice.
Unfortunately, you have not yet been able to dictate emails to Cortana. In the next practical tip, however, we will explain how you can change Cortana's voice.
