When installing Windows 10, the error message "Reserved partition could not be updated" often appears. You can find out what this error means and how you can fix it in this practical tip.
Windows 10: installation error - how to fix it
Follow these steps to fix the error:
- Before installing Windows 10 on your PC, make sure you have enough free space on your hard drive.
- If so, you may have a Samsung SSD. The error occurs more frequently on these devices. Or you have used the "Samsung Data Migration Software" tool. This can also be responsible for the error.
- You can quickly fix the error. First download the Easus Partition Master from our download area and start it after the installation.
- Look for "*: Data" or "*: Reserved" or "*: System", followed by the drive letter "C:" and the name of the hard disk.
- Right click on it and choose "Move / Resize Partition".
- Mark the value there and cut it out with [CTRL] + [X], in order to then insert it in the field "vacant rooms before".
- Then the program asks for a restart, which you confirm. This process can take some time.
- After that, the changes take effect and you can run the installation of Windows 10 again.
