- Open the Explorer with [Windows] + [E] and switch to the category "This PC" on the left.
- Select the desired hard disk with the right mouse button and select the "Properties".
- Switch to the "Tools" tab above and click on the "Optimize" button.
- Here you can see all available partitions and on the right the status of the fragmentation in percent.
- Select the desired partition and then click on the "Optimize" button.
- Depending on the size of the partition, the process can take a few minutes to hours.
- You can also rearrange the boot files on HDD hard disks by defragmenting them. This should speed up the boot process. To do this, start the command prompt with administrator rights and enter the following command: "defrag -bc:". The command does not work with SSD hard drives.
