Windows 10 won't go into standby - you can do that
If your PC with Windows 10 is in standby, you can start it up and use it again within seconds. If this mode does not work, we will help you in this practical tip.
Windows 10 standby does not work: Troubleshoot the homegroup
- Often, your computer cannot go into standby mode if there is an error with the home network group.
- If you do not need this, it is best to leave the home network group or delete it.
Windows 10 wakes up from standby - so you fix the problem
If your computer goes into standby mode but wakes up again and again, most likely another device is accessing your PC. You can easily find out which gadget keeps your Windows computer awake from sleep:
- Open the command prompt as an administrator. To do this, right-click on the Windows icon at the bottom left and select "Command Prompt (Administrator)".
- At the command prompt, type "powercfg –lastwake".
- If a device is displayed here that wakes up the PC from standby, you can now prohibit it from reactivating.
- Open the search with [Windows] + [S] and enter "Device Manager" there.
- Now select the device with a right click and click on "Settings".
- Under the "Power Settings" tab, all you have to do is remove the checkmark next to "Device can deactivate the computer from retirement".
