A lot has changed not only visually in Windows 10: Compared to the previous versions, there are numerous new functions that Microsoft has built into both Windows editions.
- These include the new start menu with tiles, the improved Windows Defender and the new energy saving options.
- The Cortana voice assistant also helps you in both versions. You can even find the practical "Hey Cortana" function in Windows Pro and also in Windows Home.
- The new Windows Hello provides more security in Windows 10. This allows you to unlock your computer with your fingerprint and no longer have to remember long passwords.
- Of course, Microsoft's new browser Edge should not be missing. It replaces Internet Explorer in both versions of Windows. There is also a separate tablet mode for users with a touchscreen and the virtual desktops provide a better overview.
- Both versions work on PC and laptop, as well as on tablets.
Windows 10 Pro vs. Home - the differences
While Windows 10 Home and Pro have the same basic functions, there are some serious differences in the depths of the system:
- Here, Windows Pro has the edge above all when it comes to network functions: You can organize your computers in domains, define group guidelines and connect to other PCs via remote desktop and control them. Even Hyper-V support is on board.
- There is also a practical BitLocker, with which you can encrypt individual data securely. So that all features always work well, there is also a separate Windows update for business users.
- Windows Pro is therefore aimed at smaller companies and network professionals. There are no further differences.
- The variety of features in Windows 10 Pro is also noticeable in the price: While the Home Edition costs around 100 euros, the Pro version costs just under 150 euros.
If you are still unsure which version of Windows to use, you can first test the new system in VirtualBox. You can try both versions 30 days before purchase.
