With our tips below, installing Windows 10 works without any problems:
- Before you start the installation, make sure Windows 10 works on your PC - your computer should meet the minimum requirements.
- You should then check whether updates are available for your PC. If this is the case, install all available updates.
- In most cases it can be helpful to remove old drivers from the PC. To do this, start the command prompt and enter "rundll32.exe pnpclean.dll, RunDLL_PnpClean / DRIVERS / MAXCLEAN". Confirm with [Enter].
- Then restart your PC and try again to install Windows 10.
- The lettering "Update is being prepared" indicates that Microsoft's servers are currently overloaded. So try again later.
- If the installation still hangs, you can try installing Windows 10 from the USB stick.
- In general, you should not install the update using the icon in the taskbar, but via Windows Update.
