Windows 10: installation hangs - you can do that
If the Windows 10 installation hangs on your computer, this can have a variety of causes. However, you can often quickly fix the error yourself. Find out in our practical tip what you can do to troubleshoot.
Windows 10 installation hangs - you can do that
When upgrading to Windows 10, the installation can quickly hang:
- Note that Windows 10 has different system requirements than previous versions of Windows.
- The upgrade to Windows 10 can only be easily installed if the system requirements are fully met.
- Also note that Microsoft's upgrade servers can quickly become overloaded.
- When switching from Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10, many people can access it at the same time. This can lead to an overload or even failure of the server.
- Sometimes USB devices are responsible for the fact that the installation cannot be carried out correctly. Therefore, disconnect all USB devices from the PC that you do not absolutely need.
- You can use the "Disk Cleanup" to delete old system files and thus create more space. In some cases, drivers that are no longer used can prevent an upgrade to Windows 10. You can remove them using the command prompt.
- Simply enter the following command and confirm with [ENTER]: rundll32.exe pnpclean.dll, RunDLL_PnpClean / DRIVERS / MAXCLEAN
- Then restart the PC and try reinstalling Windows 10.
