If you do not have Internet access on your PC under Windows 10, this can have various causes. We'll explain what it could be and how to fix it.
No Internet access in Windows 10: How to find the source of the error
To ensure that you are back online quickly, you should systematically check the common sources of error:
- If you are using a LAN connection, you should first make sure that the LAN cable is correctly connected to the PC and the router.
- Likewise, the cable must not be damaged or broken. If you find any damage, you should replace it as soon as possible.
- If you want to connect the PC via WLAN, make sure that the WLAN is activated on both your PC and the router.
- If the PC cannot find the router via WLAN, the router is either too far away or the WLAN is deactivated there.
- Also make sure that you are using the correct network key for the network.
- In some cases, the anti-virus system or firewall can block the Internet connection. Briefly deactivate both services to test whether this is the reason for the missing connection.
- Sometimes it can help to disconnect the router from the power supply for about 10 seconds and then restart the PC.
Another solution: VPN disrupts Internet access
Unsupported VPN software may be responsible for not having an internet connection:
- Right click on "Start" and select "Command Prompt" .
- Enter the command "netcfg –sn" and confirm with Enter.
- You will now receive a list with all network protocols, drivers and services. Look for the entry "DNI_DNE" here .
- If it is listed, enter the following command at the command prompt:
- "reg delete HKCR \ CLSID \ {988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3} / va / f netcfg -v -u dni_dne"
- Confirm again with Enter .
- If you receive an error message after entering it, you must delete the key manually. Enter "regedit" under "Run" to open the registry editor.
- Navigate to the key "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ CLSID \ {988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3}" and delete it.
- Then restart the PC.

If you don't have an Internet connection in Windows 10 despite a WiFi connection, try the following:
- Check whether your IP configuration for Internet access is set correctly. You can do this by opening the "Connections" tab in the Control Panel and checking whether the DHCP server, DNS server, the internal IP address and the default gateway of the router are entered.
- If this is not the case, proceed as follows: Open the "Properties" tab and click on "Internet Protocol, Version 4" . Once there, click on "Properties" and check the box "Obtain an IP address automatically".
- Check your proxy settings : Since the traffic is routed through the proxy server, you might not have an internet connection if this is set incorrectly. To check this, go to the "Internet Connection" tab in Control Panel and click "Connections" to access the LAN settings.
- In the "Proxy server" area, there should be no checkmark next to "Use proxy server for LAN" be set. If so, remove the check mark.
