Windows 10: No network access - you can do that
In this practical tip, we explain what you can do if you do not have network access under Windows 10. In such a case you should check your network adapter. The problem is often due to wrong drivers.
Enable network adapter in Windows 10
The network adapter may not be activated and you will therefore not be able to access the network. Activate the setting as follows:
- Open the Device Manager via the search at the bottom left.
- Click on "Network adapter" there.
- If a small black arrow is displayed on your WLAN adapter, it is deactivated.
- Right click on the adapter and select "Activate".
Wrong drivers in Windows 10
When upgrading to Windows 10, problems with the drivers can arise, for example. You may now have the wrong drivers for your network adapter.
- Open the device manager.
- Right-click your network adapter under "Network Adapters".
- Select "Update Driver".
- At this point, click "Search my computer for driver software" and then click "Select from a list of device drivers on my computer".
- In the list that is now displayed, click on the name of your WLAN adapter and then follow the installation instructions.
- If your WLAN adapter is not displayed, remove the check from "Show compatible hardware", then select the manufacturer of your adapter and your respective model.
- Alternatively, look for the appropriate drivers on the Internet.
