Windows 10: Key does not work - you can do that
In order to use Windows 10 properly, you need a key for activation. If this does not work, Windows will initially continue to run as a limited trial version. Find out in our practical tip what you can do in this case.
Windows 10: key does not work - what to do?
To confirm the authenticity of Windows 10, you need a key. The following points should help if the key does not work properly.
- After installing Windows 10, you have a maximum of 90 days to confirm its authenticity.
- To do this, you need the system key so that the operating system can be properly activated.
- For the activation process you have to be connected to the internet, because the key has to be compared with the database.
- If this is not recognized, first make sure that you have entered the key correctly.
- The letter "O" is often perceived as a number "0" and vice versa. Therefore, try a second time to enter the key and change the characters accordingly.
- Note that you need the correct version of Windows 10. For example, with a key for Windows 10 Home, you cannot activate Windows 10 Pro.
- However, if an error message appears when you enter that the key is already in use, contact Microsoft immediately.
- You may have been the victim of a counterfeit software. Microsoft support can then provide further advice.
