Windows 10: import contacts - how it works
Windows 10 includes its own contacts app where you can save phone numbers. In this article, we reveal how you can import existing contacts and save yourself typing.
Import contacts into Windows 10
Contact files are usually in the CSV or VCF file. However, such databases cannot be imported via the Contacts app in Windows 10. Instead, you can only create a single new contact using the plus symbol. For an import you have to take a small detour:
- First, make sure you're signed in to Windows 10 with your Microsoft account and haven't set it up without a Microsoft account.
- Then open this Microsoft website in your browser.
- Log in there with your account data and click on the "Start import" link under "Import contacts" on the main page.
- You can then choose between various import options. Among other things, you can import contacts from Outlook.com, Google, Yahoo and Windows Live Mail. If you have a CSV file, click on "Other".
- You can then upload and import your local contacts using the "Browse" button.
- All new contacts can then be found in your Microsoft account and thus also in the Contacts app under Windows 10.
