Repair Windows 10 Mail app: you have to do that
Errors in the mail app can have different causes. The installation may be defective and you will have to set up the app again. There could also be a problem with the cache. Just try the following tips:
- First restart your computer. You can fix many problems by simply rewriting the memory.
- If the app offers to repair itself, run the wizard. Windows searches for errors and tries to fix them automatically.
- Reinstall the mail app. To do this, right-click on the app tile and select "Uninstall". You can then reinstall them above via "Account" and "My apps".
- Clear the Windows Store app cache. Temporary data of your applications are stored there. To do this, press the [Windows] + [R] keys, enter "wsreset.exe" in the Run window and confirm with Enter. The cache is now automatically cleared and the mail app will hopefully work again.
- If that doesn't work, you can also clear the cache manually. Make sure you can see hidden files in Explorer. Then navigate to the path "C: \ Users \ Name \ AppData \ Local \ Packages \ Microsoft.WindowsStore_asdfasdf" and delete the "LocalCache" folder.
- You can also use the official Microsoft Troubleshooter. To do this, click "Troubleshoot" on this Microsoft website and run the program, which is downloaded automatically. The wizard then tries to fix errors automatically.
- If the Mail app worked until recently, you can run Windows 10 System Restore.
- If you haven't been able to fix the problem so far, all you can do is hope for a patch from Microsoft or contact customer service.
