Windows 10: Mount ISO - how it works
You can mount ISO files under Windows 10 and thus access the data it contains - without any additional software. We explain how this works in this guide.
Mount ISO files on Windows 10
While older versions of Windows rely on additional programs such as "DVDFab Virtual Drive" or "Virtual CloneDrive" to mount ISO images, you no longer need them under Windows 10. The corresponding function is already included in the operating system:
- To mount, simply double-click on the desired ISO file. Windows 10 then creates an additional virtual drive and automatically integrates the file.
- Alternatively, the function can also be accessed via the context menu if you right-click the ISO file. Then select "Deploy".
- Note: These functions may not be available if you have installed a program that changes the file associations of ISO files. You then have to remove the corresponding program if you want to use the Windows function for mounting.
Eject ISO files again
To remove the mounted ISO file, right-click on the virtual drive in Windows Explorer and click on the "Eject" option in the context menu.
