Windows 10 is hardly supplied with a CD and can therefore be restored without a data carrier. We show you exactly how to do this.
Instructions: Restore Windows 10 without CD
Especially in the case of serious errors, you should completely reinstall Windows 10. Your PC will be reset to the factory settings and all data will be deleted. If necessary, you can also keep the files.
- Open the start menu and select the "Settings" using the gear icon.
- Under "Update and Security" go to the "Recovery" category and click on the "Get started" button under "Reset this PC".
- Here you can decide whether you only want to reinstall Windows and keep your personal data and settings, or whether you want to completely remove all data.
- The subsequent process can take several minutes. Do not use your computer during this time.
Windows 10: Start System Restore
If you don't want to completely reinstall Windows, but just want to reset the computer to an earlier point in time, System Restore will help you:
- Open the start menu and select the control panel.
- Under the category "System and Security" and "Security and Maintenance" you will find the "Recovery" in the lower left corner.
- Select the "Open System Restore" option and wait a moment.
- Now decide on one of the displayed points and start the process.
Restore Windows 10 via USB stick
If you can no longer access Windows properly, there is another method. To do this, load the Windows installation onto a USB stick to reinstall Windows on another PC.
- Download the Media Creation Tool for Windows 10.
- Select the option "Create installation media for another PC" and choose the 32- or 64-bit version.
- Select the "USB memory stick" and insert the empty USB stick into the PC at the latest now.
- If the USB stick is not empty, it will be formatted in the next step. If there is still important data on the stick, you should back it up beforehand.
- The installation for Windows 10 is then downloaded and transferred to the USB stick.
- To carry out the installation on a PC, insert the USB stick and start the PC. If Windows does not start as usual, you must first change the boot order.
