Windows 10: Remove OneDrive ads from Windows Explorer
On Windows 10, advertisements for OneDrive appear regularly in Explorer. Here's how to remove the annoying overlay.
Windows Explorer: Remove OneDrive ads from Windows 10
Although Windows 10 is now paying for itself, Microsoft is still showing advertisements for the paid OneDrive subscription service. If you are bothered by this display, you can turn it off with just a few clicks:
- To do this, open Windows Explorer with the key combination [Windows] + [E].
- In the top menu bar click on the "File" entry and then on "Change folder and search options".
- Switch to the "View" tab in the new window.
- Under "Advanced Settings" in the section "Files and Folders" remove the checkmark at the entry "Show notifications from the synchronization provider".
- If you save your changes with "OK", Windows 10 no longer displays OneDrive advertisements in Explorer.
- Note: If you use a cloud provider other than OneDrive, which also synchronizes itself with your computer, it may happen that the overlays of this service no longer appear for synchronization. If you don't want this, you have to completely uninstall OneDrive.
