For some games and programs you have to open special ports in the firewall. Of course, this also works in Windows 10. We'll tell you exactly how to proceed in this practical tip.
Open ports in the Windows firewall
The firewall in Windows 10 is activated by default and protects your computer against unauthorized access. If you release a port that you do not need too often, you should close it quickly for security reasons. You can finally open all other ports:
- Press the key combination [Windows] + [X] and select the entry "Control Panel" from the list.
- In the "System and Security" category, click "Windows Firewall".
- Select the entry "Advanced Settings" in the left column and confirm the user account query with "OK".
- In the "Inbound Rules" tab, click on "New Rule" on the right.
- Then select the "Port" option and click "Next".
- Enter the data of the port to be released here and save with "OK".
If the Windows firewall is too unsafe for you, you can of course also use a separate security tool. In this case, however, you must deactivate the Windows firewall so that the two programs do not interfere with each other.
