Change Windows 10 lock screen: make changes in the registry
If you make changes in the registry, you should always back up your registry beforehand so that you can possibly restore it later.
- Use the key combination [Windows] + [R] and enter the command "regedit" (without quotation marks).
- Navigate to the following path in the registry: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Personalization".
- You now have two options: You can remove the "NoLockScreen" key by right-clicking on it and selecting "Delete".
- Alternatively, do not select "Delete" in the selection, but "Change". Here you set the value to "0".
- Then close the registry. You may have to restart your PC. You should now be able to change the lock screen again.
