Windows 10: Start and use StarMoney 9 - so it'll work
StarMoney 9 was one of the best banking tools for years, but now the program should no longer work with Windows 10 - at least that's what the developers say. However, we have found two ways that you can get the banking software up and running with the latest version of Windows.
StarMoney 9: How it works on Windows 10
The major anniversary update of Windows 10 brought many innovations, but also some disadvantages. Among other things, StarMoney 9.0 and StarMoney Business 6.0 no longer work with this version of Windows (build 1607). There will no longer be an official update for the old software. There is a fix for this, which you have to install yourself. To do this, proceed as follows:
- First close all StarMoney 9.0 windows on your computer.
- Then open the Explorer with the key combination [Windows] + [E] and navigate to the path "C: \ Program Files (x86) \ StarMoney 10 \ app \".
- There you will find the "sfmcoresd3.dll" file. Copy it to another location, such as the desktop, for security. Then you can reset the data in case something goes wrong.
- Now download this fix from the developers and unzip the ZIP file. This works for example with the free tool 7-Zip.
- Copy the "sfmcoresd3.dll" file from the extracted folder and replace the original DLL in the path "C: \ Program Files (x86) \ StarMoney 10 \ app \".
- Now start StarMoney as usual, there should be no error messages and the program will work again.
Emergency solution: Start StarMoney 9.0 in the virtual system
- If the way described above does not work, you do not have to do without StarMoney 9.0.
- Instead, you can create a virtual machine with Windows 7 or 8 in Windows 10 and install and use StarMoney 9.0 as usual.
We will show you other ways of getting old programs and games running on Windows 10 in another practical tip.
