- Unfortunately, the start screen of Windows 8 could only be reactivated in the preview of Windows 10. Unfortunately, the instructions below no longer work in the final version of Windows 10.

- Activate tablet mode in Windows 10, get a little closer to the whole thing. Here you will find further tips and tricks for adapting the start menu.
Activate the start screen instead of the start menu in Windows 10
By right-clicking on the taskbar, you will find an option to activate the start screen in the "Properties". However, this cannot be selected.
- Therefore, press the "Windows" and "R" keys simultaneously so that the "Execute" command opens.
- Enter "regedit" here and confirm with "OK". Then the registry editor starts.
- Now navigate to the following path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Advanced
- Double-click the "EnableStartMenu" key on the right-hand side and set the value from 1 to 0.
- Right-click on a free area and select a "DWORD value (32-bit)" under "New".
- Name the key "EnableXamlStartMenu" and set the value to 0.
- Close the registry editor and start the task manager.
- Under "Processes" look for "explorer.exe" and restart it with a right click.
- After a short wait, the old start screen takes the place of the start menu.
