Windows 10: The new start menu

Windows 10 start menu: adjust tiles and buttons
The Windows 10 start menu offers you many customization options.
- So you can adjust the size and format of a tile by right-clicking under "Resize".
- The arrangement and positioning of the individual tiles and tile groups is also up to you. To determine which apps should be displayed in the start menu to the left of the tiles, go to Windows Settings and click on "Personalization -> Start".
- All functions except full screen mode are activated by default. This is similar to the SmartScreen known from Windows 8 and can be switched on if desired.
- You can drag the size of the start menu up and down like a normal window. The color of the start menu and the tiles can be selected under the menu item "Colors".
- If you would like to rename the tile under Windows 10, we will explain in another practical tip how this can be done.
- You can also activate or deactivate the transparency in the Start menu under Windows 10. You can find out exactly how this is done in a separate article.
Windows 10 Start menu: Add your own tiles
Of course, you can also create your own tiles.
- Under "All apps" you will find an alphabetical list of all applications that you can use as tiles in the start menu.
- For example, if you want to see the latest sports news at a glance, simply drag and drop the sports app to the desired location.
- You can right-click to remove tiles in Windows 10 or turn live tiles on and off.
- If you want to call up other Windows programs, individual drives or the recycle bin as a tile directly from the start menu, you can add them via the context menu of the right mouse button with the menu item "Pin to start".
