Windows 10: Steam Crash - Error 9926

Windows 10 Technical Preview and Steam - Fix errors
Not all programs run smoothly under Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9926 - including Steam. Some games don't start or crash after a few minutes. You should first note the following:
- Make sure you are using the latest version of Windows 10 as each update contains numerous improvements and bug fixes. You can get the latest version directly via Windows Update.
- Also install the latest version of the Steam client. This should normally update itself automatically. Alternatively, click on "Steam" in the menu bar and then on "Check for Steam Client Updates ...".

Windows 10 Build 9926: Restart Steam service automatically
If Steam crashes while playing on Windows 10, you can usually fix the problem yourself. To do this, configure the service so that it automatically restarts in this case:
- Press the key combination [Win] + [R] to open the Run dialog. Enter the command "services.msc" and click "OK".
- Then search for the service "Steam Client Service" and double click on it.
- Switch to the "Recovery" tab. There you select the "Restart service" action for "First error", "Second error" and "Other errors".
- Make sure that the value "1" is entered under "Restart service after: X minute (s)". Finally click on "Ok".
Windows 10: alternative solutions for steam crashes
If the Steam client service crashes during games, you should change the following settings:
- Create a new user account (without a Microsoft account), but remain logged in to your main account.
- Now press the key combination [Win] + [R] and enter "gpedit.msc" in the Run dialog. Then confirm your entry.
- In order, click Computer Configuration> Windows Settings> Security Settings> Local Policies> User Rights Assignment> Log On As Service. A new window with the properties opens.
- Then click on the button "Add user or group ...", whereupon another window opens.
- Here you select the button "Advanced ..." and in the new window "Search now".
- In the search results, double-click the name of the user account created in step 1. You can close the open windows with "Ok".
- Press [Win] + [R] again and this time type "services.msc".
- In the new window, double click on the "Steam Client Service" service.
- Go to the "Register" tab and select the account you just created under "This account:".
- Finally restart your PC, the crashes are a thing of the past.
