Windows 10: Tablet mode - the most important functions
The Windows 10 tablet mode offers you an easier touch operation for your Windows device. We have put together the most important functions for you in this practical tip.
How to enable Windows 10 tablet mode
To be able to use the Windows 10 tablet mode, you must first activate it as follows:
- First, as shown in the screenshot, select the notification icon.
- Then go to "Tablet mode".

Once you have activated tablet mode, the following gestures work on your touchscreen:
- Open the Info Center by swiping in from the right edge.
- If you swipe in from the left edge, you open all currently active apps.
- To open the title bar of the current app, you have to swipe in from the top.
- With a swipe from the bottom to the center, the taskbar of all open apps is displayed.
- You can flip back and forth between different pages by dragging your finger across the screen.
- If you put two fingers on your screen, you can pull it apart and zoom in with a merge.
The windows in Windows 10 tablet mode
When you are in tablet mode, you can no longer freely resize the program windows:
- While you can still resize the program windows freely in normal desktop mode, this is no longer possible in tablet mode.
- In tablet mode, you can display windows in full screen or on the left and right side of the screen.
- With large screens it is even possible to split the display into three parts.
