Note: If you are not dealing with the problem described, this article may help you.
- Immediately after the installation or after the next start of Windows, the selection of a keyboard layout is required. However, the mouse and keyboard no longer seem to work.
- This is a Windows 10 bug that should not appear in the newer versions. Unfortunately, there is no official or guaranteed solution to this problem.
- The instructions in the next paragraph have helped many users. If that doesn't work for you, you still have the option of resetting to the factory settings.
Windows 10: Mouse and keyboard are not recognized
- In many cases the BIOS is to blame. The mouse and keyboard are still recognized normally in the BIOS, but these settings no longer apply to Windows 10.
- Therefore, you should open the BIOS first. Almost every manufacturer uses a different BIOS, so there is no detailed instructions for this. Look for the keyboard settings. At Lenovo, for example, this is "OS Optimized Defaults".
- An update from the BIOS may also be required. However, this is usually not necessary and should never be carried out by lay people.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to properly clean your keyboard.
