In order to keep your operating system up to date, you should regularly install updates. If the update is slow in Windows 10, this indicates a busy Internet connection. In this practical tip, we will tell you what you can do about it.
Updates on Windows 10 are slow - you can do that
- First, make sure you are connected to the internet correctly. To do this, you can open any page in your browser.
- When using a WLAN connection, you should make sure that the PC is not too far away from the router, as otherwise the speed may be reduced.
- It is often sufficient to disconnect the router from the power supply for about 10 seconds. This will solve most of the connection problems.
- If the installation of the updates is slow, you should make sure that you have enough free hard disk space (around 5GB).
- The download of the updates may also be blocked or slowed down by your firewall or the antivirus program. Therefore, switch off both services briefly.
- If this is the case, we will explain how to add an exception to your firewall and allow the program to run on your antivirus scanner.
- Microsoft's servers may currently be overloaded because many users install an update or these are restricted by maintenance work. So please try again later.
