In addition to apps and programs, you can also add web pages as tiles to the Start menu in Windows 10. The procedure differs depending on the web browser used.
Microsoft Edge: Add website tiles to the Start menu in Windows 10
Microsoft Edge users can pin web pages to the Windows 10 Start menu with just one click. You can then use the website tile to open the desired target website directly in Microsoft Edge.
- To do this, first start the Microsoft browser and open the website to be added.
- In the top right click on the menu icon with the three vertical dots.
- Decide there for the entry "Pin this page to 'Start'".
- You will then find a separate tile for the website in your start menu, which you can move and scale as usual.
Other browsers: Pin websites to the start menu
With Chrome, Firefox and Co. there is no function to integrate the website directly into the Windows 10 start menu. Here you have to take a little detour.
- To do this, first open the desired website in your standard browser.
- Then click on the lock symbol to the left of the URL and drag it onto your desktop. This creates a link to the desired website.
- Now open Windows Explorer with the key combination [Windows] + [E].
- Enter the command "shell: programs" in the address bar at the top (see picture) and confirm with [Enter].
- Copy the shortcut just created into this path to add it as an app to the start menu programs.
- Finally, open the start menu and look under "All apps" for the link you just copied.
- Click on it with the right mouse button and select "Add to start".
