Windows: Update 32-bit to 64-bit - how it works
If you want to update or upgrade Windows from 32-bit to 64-bit, only a few steps are necessary. We show you the exact procedure in this practical tip.
This is how the update from 32-bit to 64-bit works on Windows
Changing from 32-bit to 64-bit is child's play, especially under Windows 10, as the following instructions show you:
- For security, you should first save your data on an external hard drive or USB stick so that it cannot be lost.
- You then need the Media Creation Tool, which you use to install Windows 10 in the 32-bit version.
- After successful installation you have to make sure that Windows is activated. To do this, press [Windows] + [Pause] and scroll down to "Windows activation".
- Then it goes to the so-called "Clean Install" of Windows 10. To do this you need the installation DVD or a bootable USB stick with Windows 10.
- Insert the installation DVD or insert the bootable USB stick into the PC.
- In the BIOS you have to change the boot order so that you can start from the DVD or the stick.
- Then follow the wizard to install Windows 10.
