Windows 7: Calibrate the battery - how it works
If you want to calibrate your battery under Windows 7, you can do this in several ways. We'll show you step by step how to reset the battery indicator.
Windows 7: why calibrate the battery?
- There is a lithium-ion battery in almost every laptop. The advantage of these batteries is that they have no memory effect and therefore do not always have to be fully charged and discharged.
- Nevertheless, there can be problems with the displayed battery level under Windows 7. So that Windows displays the correct value again, the battery needs to be calibrated every now and then.
Windows 7: Calibrate laptop battery
- Charge your laptop completely and switch off the device.
- If you keep pressing the [F8] key at the start, a menu will open.
- Select "Safe Mode" here and disconnect the laptop from the power.
- Now just let the laptop run until the battery is completely empty.
- The battery has now been successfully calibrated. You can use the laptop again as usual.

Calibrate the battery: tools from the manufacturer
- A suitable tool for battery calibration is already preinstalled on many computers. You can use this to perform the process as well.
- Usually the battery tools come directly from the manufacturers. For example, the HP Support Assistant or Lenovo Energy Management are often preinstalled.
