Windows 7: Clear memory
You can easily empty the working memory of your PC under Windows 7. Our tip shows you how to do this.
Empty working memory in Windows 7 using a script
The basis for the script is a text document. You create it by opening the editor via "Start" - "Programs" - "Accessories".
- Now enter the following text: "FreeMem = Space (32000000)". Leave out the quotes.
- Save the document with "Save As". In order for the text file to become a script, you have to change the file extension from ".txt" to ".vbs". When coding, set "ANSI".
With a double click on the script, the working memory is emptied by the specified MByte. Explained using the example, this means that 32000000 bytes - i.e. 32 MByte - will be released. But be careful: if you delete more than half of your built-in RAM, your computer can crash. If that does happen, nothing will break. Restart your system and everything is fine again.
Your working memory is used by running programs. Optimize the system start and remove unnecessary background programs from the autostart folder. As a result, your RAM has more free space and your system boots faster.
