Do you want to automatically log in as a user in Windows 7 instead of having to enter the password every time you start? With this simple trick, you can now go straight to the desktop without getting stuck on the start screen.
Log on the user automatically when Windows starts
If you want to automatically log in with your user name in Windows 7, proceed as follows:
- Click the Windows logo in the lower left corner to open the Start menu.
- Now enter the term "netplwiz" under "Search programs / files" and open the program found. Alternatively, you can also click on "Run ...", enter "netplwiz" here and confirm with Enter.
- A new window "User accounts" opens. Under "Users of this computer", select the user with whom you would like to log on automatically in the future. Then remove the checkmark at "User must enter user name and password" (see screenshot) and click on "Apply" at the bottom right.
- In the next window "Automatic login" you have to enter your password twice for security reasons. Confirm your entry with "OK". You can also close the "User Accounts" window with "OK".
- Now you are automatically logged on when Windows 7 starts. You no longer have to enter your password for your user account. If you want to undo this, repeat the first two steps and then check the box next to "User must enter user name and password".
