Windows 7: Adjust screen brightness - how it works
In this short practical tip we will show you how to adjust the screen brightness under Windows 7.
Set screen brightness under Windwos 7
Especially if you work with your laptop outside on the terrace or in low-light rooms, it is advisable to adjust the screen brightness to the respective situation:
- To do this, open the "Start" button at the bottom left of your desktop and then click on "Control Panel".
- In the settings window that opens, select the "System and Security" option and then "Power Options".
- You can now make various energy saving settings. Click "Select time to turn off the screen" to adjust the screen brightness of your PC.
- In addition to other interesting energy settings, you can move the slider at "Adjust display brightness" according to your lighting requirements.
- Confirm your setting with "Save change".
How to make your Windows 7 desktop PC brighter
If you are using a desktop PC with Windows 7, the way described above will not work. Instead, you have to adjust the brightness of the screen directly via the graphics driver.
- If you are using an ATI graphics card, you need the "ATI Catalyst". Here you can adjust the screen brightness in the settings.
- For a NVIDIA graphics card, open the pre-installed program "NVIDIA Control Panel". Here, too, you can make the screen brightness of your desktop PC brighter in the settings.
To save even more energy, you can also set Windows to switch off your laptop when it is closed.
