Windows 7: Switch desktop wallpapers automatically
In Windows 7, you can automatically switch the background images on your desktop. You can find out how to set the intervals here.
Use multiple images alternately as a desktop background
- Click with the right mouse button on an empty space on the desktop and select the context command »Adjust«.
- In the following dialog click on the link »Desktop Background«. Now you can select a desktop background by clicking on one of the offered images.
- Then choose the next image for your future slideshow. As soon as the mouse pointer is over this image, a small, empty box appears in the upper left corner. Place a checkmark in it with a click of the mouse to add the image to the slide show. In this way you can add further pictures. It is quicker if you hold down the [Ctrl] key and then click on all the desired images one after the other or simply »select all«.
As soon as you select more than one image, Windows activates the controls below "Change image all" (see screenshot). In this combo box you select the time interval from »10 seconds« to »1 day«, after which the operating system should exchange the background.
- Activate the »Mix« option if you want Windows to use the pictures in random order.
- In the combo box »Image position« you determine how your background images appear on the desktop. For example, Windows can enlarge the image until it fills the desktop completely.
- The "stretched" option makes little sense, because Windows then stretches the image to the dimensions of the desktop and the proportions are usually lost. Confirm your details with "Save changes".
By the way: Windows first presents background images from various standard folders in the dialog described. It is best to collect your desired desktop backgrounds in a specific folder. To then select this for your slide show, click on "Browse" in the dialog and navigate to the relevant folder in the following window.
