Windows 7: Change DNS server
You can change the DNS server under Windows 7 without additional tools. We'll show you how to do it.
How to change DNS server in Windows 7
To change the DNS server, first open the network settings.
- Right-click the network connection icon on the taskbar. A drop-down menu appears, in which you have to select "Open Network and Sharing Center".
- Alternatively, you can find this item by opening the Control Panel and opening "Network and Internet".
- Click on "Change adapter settings" in the left sidebar.
- Right-click the connection you want to change. A drop-down menu appears in which you select "Status". The "Properties of wireless network connection" opens.
Change DNS server
Now you can address the actual change to the DNS server.
- In the "Properties of wireless network connection" select the item "Internet protocol version 4 (TCP / IPv4)" and click again on "Properties".
- Here you can enter a preferred DNS server and an alternative under "Use the following DNS server addresses".
- Confirm with OK".
