Windows 7: Deactivate authenticity check
A tool is integrated in Windows 7 that carries out an authenticity check of your Windows version. We'll show you how to remove it with relatively little effort.
Windows 7: Disable WGA authentication
The patch arrives on your system via Windows Update. If the authenticity check is not yet installed, simply switch off the automatic Windows updates. If it is already installed, you have to search the registry:
- Press the [Windows] and [R] keys simultaneously. The Run dialog opens.
- Enter "regedit" here and confirm with "OK". Then the registry editor starts.
- In the left column, navigate to the folder "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon \ Notify".
- Here you will find the "WgaLogon" file, which you can right-click "Delete".
- Then open the path "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Uninstall".
- Right-click to remove the file called "WGA".
- Close the registry editor and confirm the changes with "Yes". Finally, restart the computer.
If you want to be on the safe side, you should first back up the Windows registry.
