Start the command prompt (cmd) in the Windows folder
If you work with the command prompt frequently, the cumbersome navigation in folders can be very annoying. With a little trick you can open the console with the correct path.
- First, open the folder where you want to start the command prompt.
- Hold down the "Shift" key on your keyboard. This is located at the bottom left above the "Ctrl" key.
- Now right-click on an empty space in the folder so that the context menu opens.
- There you will find the entry "Open command prompt here". The CMD console then opens with the folder path already entered.
The procedure works both under Windows Vista, as well as under Windows 7 and 8. In this practical tip you will learn how to start the safe mode under Windows.
