Windows 7: Defragment hard drive - how it works
Defragment your hard drive and Windows 7 will run faster on your computer again. This even works without an additional tool, because Windows has already installed a defragmentation service.
How to defragment your hard drive
- Click on the Windows button (formerly "Start") and enter "defrag" in the search bar. Then open the "Defragmentation" software.
- Now select a data medium and check whether defragmentation makes sense: To do this, click on "Analyze data medium".
- If you want to perform the defragmentation immediately, click on "Defragment disk" to start the process.
- Depending on the memory used, this can take up to 15 minutes. However, you can abort the process in the middle and only do the defragmentation later.
