Windows 7: Setting up a home network group - a guide
In this practical tip, we explain how to set up a home network group in Windows 7. With a home network group, you can easily share data in a home network.
Windows 7: Set up homegroup via network and sharing center
- Right-click on the network icon in the taskbar and select "Open Network and Sharing Center".
- Under "Show active networks" click on the link "Ready to create" next to Homegroup.
- With the button "Create home network group" you can now decide which objects are to be shared with other home computers. Check or uncheck the respective objects and confirm with "Next".
- You will now see a password that you can use to add other computers to the homegroup you have created. Write down the password and click "Finish".
- The home network group is now created. However, it takes a while (depending on the amount of data) before the libraries on the computer are released for the group.
You can change the homegroup settings at any time in the Sharing Center. Read how to delete the homegroup.
