Even without additional software, you can change the proxy settings under Windows 7 and thus access the Internet via an intermediate server. This practical tip shows you where you can find the proxy settings.
Call up network settings for proxy server under Windows 7
- Click on "Start" and go to "Control Panel".
- In the search box at the top right, enter the term "Internet options".
- Select the search result of the same name.
- Then the "Internet Properties" window appears.
- Here you switch to the "Connections" tab.
- Then click the "LAN Settings" button.
- Check the box "Use proxy server for LAN" to activate the option.
- Now you can enter an address. Further proxy servers for protocols such as HTTP, HTTPS or FTP can be specified via the "Advanced" item.
