In the Windows 7 network settings, you can specify that your PC automatically obtains the IP address when connected to a network. In the following steps and in the graphic picture gallery below, we will show you the procedure.
- Go to the Control Panel. Tip: If you use the control panel frequently, you can use this practical tip to create a desktop shortcut.
- Select "Network and Sharing Center" here.
- Then click on Local Area Connection.
- Call up the "Properties".
- Mark "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / IPv4)" here and click on "Properties".
- Under the "General" tab, select the "Obtain an IP address automatically" option and confirm by clicking "OK".
- Close the other windows by clicking on "OK" and "Close". Your computer will now automatically obtain the IP address when connected to a network.
