Windows 7: No network access - it could be because of that
If you do not have network access under Windows 7, Microsoft offers its network troubleshooting for such cases. However, your problem could also be due to the router or an incorrect password. Read this practical tip to find out how to solve this problem and get network access again under Windows 7.
No network access under Windows 7 - router reset
Very often, it is not your operating system that is to blame for network access problems, but also your router.
- In such a case, you should first disconnect your router from the power and wait about a minute before reconnecting it. This simple step often solves the problem.
- If this is of no use to you, you should open the network troubleshooting. You can find out how to do this in the following paragraph.
Windows 7 offers network troubleshooting
- Go to the Network and Sharing Center. This can be done either via the Windows search or via the network symbol on the right in the task bar: Click on the Internet symbol and then select "Open Network and Sharing Center".
- Next, click on "Troubleshoot".
- Wait a moment and then select "Network adapter".
- A new window dialog opens, which you confirm with "Next".
- The problems are now being identified. It is best to check "All network adapters" and confirm with "Next".
- Windows 7 often repairs the existing problems for you.
Wrong password does not lead to network access
If the network troubleshooter also does not allow network access, you may have entered the wrong network key. You can change this as follows:
- Right-click on your network via the network icon in the task bar and select "Properties".
- Select the "Security" tab and enter your security key.
- Confirm with "OK".
