Windows 7: Map network drive
In Windows 7 you can connect your network drive like a normal hard drive. We'll show you where to find the necessary settings.
Set up network drives in Windows 7
- Press the key combination [Windows] + [E] to open Windows Explorer.
- Select the "Connect network drive" entry in the status bar. It opens in a new window.
- Enter the letter you want your network drive to receive and the server address. Alternatively, you can use "Browse" to select computers from the same home network or work group.
- Choose below if you want the connection to be established automatically and if you want to use other credentials. This is necessary, for example, if you want to log on to the network drive with a different user name.
- Click Finish". If there is a login window, enter your user name and password for the network drive.
Tip: To save traffic, you can prevent the thumbs.db file from being created on the drive.
