Windows 7: Set up the quick launch bar - how it works
Microsoft has no longer integrated the quick start bar in Windows 7. With a little trick you can get the quick launch bar back. We'll show you how it works and how best to set up the bar.
Activate the quick start bar in Windows 7
You will no longer find the quick start bar under Windows 7, but you can use the so-called toolbars for this:
- Right-click on an empty space on the Windows taskbar.
- In the context menu, select the "New toolbar" entry under "Toolbars".
- In the new window, enter the command "% AppData% \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Quick Launch" and click on "Select folder".
- The entry "Quick Launch" now appears in the lower right corner of your taskbar. However, the quick start bar is not yet finished.
Set up quick launch bar in Windows 7
- To customize the quick launch bar, right-click on the taskbar and select "Lock taskbar". The tick in front of the entry should disappear.
- Then drag the bar next to the Windows symbol while holding down the mouse button.
- Right-click the new quick launch bar and choose "Show Text" or "Show Title" to show or hide the text. If the options are deactivated, only icons will appear in your bar - just like in the older versions of Windows.
- Finally, add your desired programs to the quick launch bar by dragging them into the bar.
If you would like to completely adapt your taskbar to Windows XP and Vista, we will show you how to restore the old Windows bar under Windows 7.
