Update: Service Pack 2 for Windows 7
Surprisingly, Microsoft has now released Service Pack 2 for Windows 7. However, the update package is not called "Service Pack 2". The update package is called "Windows 7 SP1 Convenience Rollup".
- The service pack includes almost all updates that Microsoft has released for Windows 7 since 2011. The only exceptions are the updates for Internet Explorer and for the NET framework.
- In order to be able to install the "Windows 7 SP1 Convenience Rollup", you must already have Service Pack 1 on your computer.
- For Windows 7 in the 64-bit version, the service pack comprises 477 MB, in the Windows 7 32-bit version it is somewhat smaller with 316 MB. After downloading the service pack with the chip installer, you will find a file with the prefix "AMD" in your download folder. This is the installation file for Windows 7 Service Pack 2.
- Alternatively, you can install Service Pack 2 using Windows Update.
